Punk rock band Jools have returned with their new single, ‘Guts’. The six-piece are known for their interesting blend of genres, with old-school punk merging with modern post-punk and shoegaze, as well as exploring ideas more commonly found in metal, pop and hip-hop. This latest cut leans into pretty much all of those ideas, with ferocious semi-rapped verses spilling out over a textured wall of distorted, chugging sound before bursting into a soaring, polished chorus and a punchy riff reminiscent of Rage Against The Machine. They explain that the track “references a time in our life when we felt utterly despaired and stuck in a situation we were in. We were struggling with artistic freedom and creation and felt stifled by the thought that maybe the dream - being successful as a band - was over for us.” Catch the band live in the UK in April 2025. -Dan Peeke
